Starting November 19 at the Opéra de Montréal. After the overwhelming success of the opera Les Feluettes presented in 2016, Quebec playwright Michel Marc Bouchard is back at the OdM with an original libretto inspired by the extraordinary rescue of the Louvre's works during the Second World War. This time he teamed up with composer Julien Bilodeau. This opera illustrates the importance of art and beauty in our lives. The Second World War is devastating, and France has just suffered a defeat against the German army. But that's not all. The battle continues on the art front. As Nazi officers plan to pillage the Louvre of its precious masterpieces, Jacques Jaujard and Rose Valland orchestrate a historic clandestine rescue, risking their lives.

In 2022 we celebrate five years since the first performance of Tom na Fazenda in Rio de Janeiro, with more than 200 performances, 25 prizes (various categories) and 28,000 spectators. Award-winning Brazilian director Rodrigo Portella adapts Michel Marc Bouchard's text here. In Brazil, where the number of homophobic murders is at an all-time high, Tom on the Farm has acquired terrible resonance.

Sinopsis
Tom acude al funeral de su pareja al pueblo en el que nació y creció. Espera recibir un abrazo. Palabras de consuelo, de ánimo, pero descubre que la madre del que fuera su novio ni siquiera sabe que su hijo recién fallecido era homosexual. Tom es obligado a vivir la tortura del duelo en silencio. Tratando de existir en ese mundo al que no pertenece, un mundo agresivo. Rodeado de olores a vacas, a sangre, a mierda, a podrido.

Tom en la granja es un proyecto de Colectivo transeúnte que busca llevar un teatro de la más alta calidad al público joven. Sumándose así al movimiento nacional que busca crear espectáculos para las jóvenes audiencias. Esta obra aborda dos temas "los crímenes por odio" (homofobia) y "los apegos". México ocupa el segundo lugar en crímenes por homofobia. De esta manera el proyecto "Tom en la granja" busca crear un espectáculo con conciencia social y reflexivo.

Spectacolul „Băiatul Văduvă” propune o perspectivă curajoasă asupra intimității relațiilor interumane și a stigmatelor încă prezente în societate, fiind conceput după textul autorului Michel Marc Bouchard, intitulat „Tom à la ferme” și ecranizat în anul 2013 de băiatul rebel al cinematografiei, regizorul multi-premiat Xavier Dolan. Patru actori de excepție - Vlad Bîrzanu, Mihaela Sîrbu, Alexandru Chindriș, Cosmina Stratan & câinele Uber - dau viață personajelor care se zbat între  tandrețe și violență, jonglând cu statutul de victime și de călăi, mânați de dorințe înăbușite și porniri animalice. În prim-plan se află povestea tânărului Tom şi călătoria sa în micul oraş de provincie de la ţară, unde locuieşte familia iubitului său, decedat într-un accident de maşină.

Eugen Jebeleanu, artist apreciat atât la nivel național, cât și în plan internațional și laureat UNITER în 2020 pentru cea mai bună regie, este cel care semnează conceptul și regia spectacolului „Băiatul Văduvă”, montarea lui propunându-și să vorbească despre rănile intime și politice ale lumii în care trăim.

Michel Marc Bouchard’s Tom at the Farm is a taut thriller that examines a family unable to grieve a tragic loss.
